Heathrow Express goes to T4?

Heathrow Express goes to T4?

  1. Rohit Deshpande Member

Hey all, next month I’ll be using the Heathrow Express to get from Paddington to LHR and usually I fly out of T2, so that’s a straight shot from Heathrow Express however this time I’ll be flying T4. I couldn’t find anything definitive online so I was wondering does the Heathrow Express stop at terminal 4? Or would I have to somehow transfer to T4 from the terminal 2 & 3 station? Or in short essentially, how do I get to T4 from the Heathrow Express? Thanks in advance!

@Rohit – you will have to transfer at Terminals 2 & 3 station. Heathrow Connect (now subsumed by and branded as TfL Rail) runs from Paddington to Terminal 4. It stops at local stations between Paddington and Heathrow. Travel between Terminal 2/3 and Terminal 4 and Terminal 5 is free, regardless of your choice to/from Paddington. (You probably already knew about Heathrow Connect and TfL Rail if you live in London….)

Sorry I live in LA but I do go to London Couple times a year. I’ve heard of but never actually used Heathrow connect. I use Heathrow Express primarily for time convenience and also Star Gold gets free upgrade on Heathrow Express and often times I can use the extra table space to get some more work done. It is my understanding that the heathrow connect as you said, takes some stops in between and take a bit longer to get to heathrow but does that also start in Paddington? And also does that go straight to T4? Thanks in advance again!

Yes, the local service – what used to be Heathrow Connect – runs from Paddington to T4. It is now TfL Rail (Transport for London Rail), and from Dec. 2019 will be part of the Elizabeth line.

Heathrow Express will continue to run from T5 to Paddington even after the Elizabeth Line opens. I think BAA has rights to operate over the tracks to Paddington until 2028 (but BAA also owns the tracks and stations in the tunnel, so it is unlikely an extension could not be reached). Though with the competition of the Elizabeth line (running from T4 and T5 to Canary Wharf) it is conceivable BAA sells the entire operation to Transport for London / Network Rail.
