Go for DL Diamond, or roll-over?
Hi Ben (and other OMAAT readers), due to lighter biz travel for the rest of the year and into next year, trying to figure out whether it makes sense to go for Diamond again with Delta (I’ve been Diamond for multiple years). Will be able to qualify for Diamond this year, leaving not many rollover miles into 2016, probably only being able to get to Gold in 2016 (for 2017). Or, I could stop just short of Diamond, and have almost 50K miles starting out 2016, being able to have Platinum for both 2016 and 2017. What’s the better strategy? If I don’t re-qualify for Diamond next year, will Delta only downgrade me one level as a courtesy (AA used to do that back in the day)? Many thanks for any feedback!
JohnK203, I’ve been in this situation before. I was a charter diamond and I rotated on and off for a few years between Platinum and Diamond. I always felt the head start with 50k was more useful than the upgrades. Economy Comfort is great and you will still see some upgrades as a Plat. DL don’t do soft landings like AA used to. BA still do soft landings which I use for One World Status.
