Getting from Europe to LAX for 3 in J
I think I have the outbound flight figured out but can’t figure out how to best get home. I have UR and Citi points. So far, I’ve been able to find space on Turkish and AF but on the 380 so no flat seats and high surcharge using Flyingblue miles. Any other options? Looking for most direct routing as possible.
Looking for travel at end of December.
While flying into LAX would be great have you considered flying to Chicago, Denver or Houston and connecting from there? Might be more space…
Are you thinking Lufthansa?
Without know the dates it’s hard to recommend. However you could transfer to Singapore and take a *A reward on SAS. They have a great business class product, fly from CPH to LAX with European connections and reasonable surcharge of around $150. SQ would charge 65K for this trip one way. Both your CC transfers go to SQ as well.

great tip! I’ll look into that. Can I search award space on United site?
yes, and see my review on SAS (took them last week as well, one of my favorite airlines and products)

do they fly non stop to LAX? I’m not seeing any award space at the end of Dec. Any other cities near the west coast I can search?
Its going to be tough to get 3 J tickets over the holidays now. They fly to LAX only on the west coast, ORD/IAD and New York. I saw 1 J seat to IAD with UA 777 IAD to LAX. But you have other options, BA you might find something.
@Luis unfortunately late Dec is one of the worst times for award availability. I would continue checking but would also check revenue tickets as a backup.
For travel in late December, for three people, booked at this point in the year…I would take the Turkish flights. It’s lie-flat, goes all the way to LAX, and likely the best you’re going to get unless you get lucky.
Agree with Tiffany, Turkish is a great airline. Check it out.

Yes I’ve flown TK before. While the food was much better than most airlines, I wouldn’t say it’s a “great” airline. They still have 2-3-2 in J and service isn’t that friendly.
You want 3 J tickets. Take the middle 3. And the bedding they give for J is superior to most. And you might get lucky like I did and get a great crew. I’ve had 2 flights as well and 2 extremely nice crews. While great is a matter of opinion you could do far worse. Good luck.
At the very least I would check on cancellation fees for the TK tickets. If it is affordable I would lock them in and keep looking. If you find a better alternative you can always cancel. Again, that is a tough time of year for award travel.
