Frankfurt FCT or Zurich First Lounge?

Frankfurt FCT or Zurich First Lounge?

  1. Anonymous Guest

I’ll be traveling in June and have the option to fly Lufthansa First either FRA – BOS or ZRH – MUC/FRA – BOS for the first time. What do people think is the better departure lounge? Do F passengers get car service in ZRH or MUC like they do with FRA? Any thoughts appreciated.

Tough choice! Haven’t personally visited the FCT or LX F lounge (only MUCs F lounges, which pale in comparisson to these two). It is to my understanding that (in MUC) you will only be driven to your plane if it departs from a remote stand.

Do note that Swiss is very stingy with first class lounge access, I am not sure if a ZRH-FRA-BOS would guarantee you access to their F lounge. Any chance you could make FRA-ZRH-BOS work? That way you should be able to access both.

That being said I would go for the FCT over the LX F lounge, mainly for the novelty of skipping the “normal” terminal and to guarantee being driven to the plane. But that is my subjective opinion and I am sure you can’t go wrong

Ooo Tough one indeed. My take would be that it depends on your layover time. I have been to FCT (for 6 hr layover in FRA) and it was pretty impressive with the food/work space/shower/bath/chauffeur! I haven’t been to LX, but I would definitely check out the day room with the view of airplanes!

As people have said, you can’t really go wrong, they both sound great. I’d read up on reviews of both and see what features grab your fancy.

My understanding is that Swiss First Zurich lounge access is granted if someone has a same-day departing flight on Lufthansa F. (which I would have from MUC/FRA to BOS). Is this correct/incorrect?

  6. Ben Holz Gold

Well it isn’t really straightforward. For example read this article from Lucky: https://onemileatatime.com/swiss-first-class-lounge-access/
In a nutshell: Access only given on LX operated and marketed flights.

Since you would be flying to FRA in J there could be some issues.

On the other hand there was another post on live and lets fly, where he pretty much said that although he shouldn’t have been able to access the F lounge, since his upcoming flight was on J, the lounge attendants weren’t strict about it.

If you do goi to the Swiss lounge, and happen to be near the E gates. please report in about the sleeping rooms and the Hastens mattress they use.

Is the same valid for LH first class lounges? I will be flying LAX-MUC in first, followed by MUC-FRA in business and FRA-BRU in business. Obviously I will have access in MUC to the first class lounge but what about first class lounge in FRA?

  9. Ben Holz Gold

Hi @StevenRSCA, that above applies to Swiss’ first class lounge.

However, although I can’t give you a 100% certain answer, I don’t think you’ll have access to the F lounges in either MUC or FRA. You would be able to access them if you have a same day departure ticket in F. Get in touch with LH to be sure what to expect.

I did ask this to LH via twitter. They responded that I would have only access to F lounge in MUC and not in FRA. I did reply, however, with a screenshot from the lounge access policy on the LH-website. For F lounges, this clearly mentions a same day boarding pass for an LH arriving or departing flight. It does not mention explicitly that it has to be on the same airport. And on that reply I did not receive an answer yet… To be continued 🙂

Make sure to report back for future reference 😉

    Here I am again 🙂

Just confirmation from LH that the principle of boarding pass of an arriving LH F-flight is OK for F lounge access – even if you have multiple connecting flights on different airports! The only limitation they mention is that the entire First Class journey is a through booking.

Now that I think about this – not sure what exactly they mean with this “throug booking”?

Anyway, I think I am going to keep this Twitter discussion in case I have discussions with the LH people at the entrance of the lounge 🙂

I believe what LH is trying to say, perhaps not clearly, is the entire journey must be in F if you are going to use an F lounge when arriving at an airport. So while you may get access to the F lounge in Munich, you are flying J between MUC and FRA. And you are departing FRA in J. So you will only get access to the business class lounge.
