Hi guys

Hope you can help…. I’m pretty new to this and I’ve had absolutely no success from KLM or Air France in helping me to answer the following…

At the moment I’m an explorer member and have a few J class reservations with KLM and some of the other Skyteam partners, booked for this year and next. As you know with KL/AF flights it’s based on what you spend and my booked itineraries at the moment show its approximately 4 miles/per 1 euro based on what I’ve paid. After I take my first trip next week I’ll have gained enough XP to take me to a silver member.

The question is what happens to mileage accrual on the itineraries that I have already booked on the KL/AF flights? – do you know if I will automatically earn 6 miles/per 1 euro spent when I take the trips even though I booked them as an explorer member or is the mileage set – based on your status at the time of booking and therefore won’t change? Similarly I’ll start to earn an elite miles bonus of 50% on the partner airlines as a silver member – Will I earn that for example with KE/GA as I’ll be silver at the time of travel but not when I actually booked the tickets.

You earn based on the status you have when you [I][B]fly[/B][/I], not when you book. If you’ll be a silver member on your other flights, you’ll earn based as a silver member when you take the flight.

As David said, it’s based on the status when you fly, rather than when you book. You’ll also be able to use all the benefits that Silver FB members receive, such as SkyPriority Check-In/Boarding, Priority Security (at some eligible airports), and an Additional Peice of Check-In Luggage
