AA miles are probably best 12.5k for econ and 25k for business. However, most flights are operated by a 737 with recliner style seats.

If you are flying from JFK, typically 2 of the 5 daily flights are operated by a 767, which will have lie-flat seats. But, it is only a 2 and 1/2 hour flight.
