EY Guest miles booking AA connecting flight

Had anyone had success booking a mixed cabin award via EY Guest on AA metal?

I’m looking at a couple of options for xxx-LAX-HKG, all on AA metal, toward the end of the year, with availability showing on AA.com and in the EY partner system (confirmed by agnents) for business (U) on xxx-LAX and first (Z) on LAX-HKG.

xxx-LAX is operated by narrowbodies only and only has two cabin space but the front is coded as business (U), the couple of agents I’ve spoken with in the EY Guest Serbia call center have said they could only book it as two separate tickets for 25K + 55K = 80K miles, instead of 55K one way for a U+Z ticket.

Any luck getting around this? Thanks!
