Etihad, AA and Thankyou points

Etihad, AA and Thankyou points

  1. Anonymous Guest

    Hi,
I am planning to travel to India via Etihad on business class from Chicago(ORD-BLR Jan23-Feb6). I have about 41,000 etihad miles and about 94,000 AA miles and another 60000 Citi Thankyou points. As I don’t have enought points in anyone program to get a business seat, what’s the best way?

    Hi @SV2

Are you looking to travel this January 23rd? As in, 20 days from now? You will probably be limited not only by your point balance, but also by availability.

If you transferred all your Citi points to Etihad, you would have just enough for one way Chicago to Abu Dhabi, but would have to book the connection and return separately.

Alternatively, you could purchase an economy flex fare and upgrade, but looks like that would be $2,000+ for your dates. At that price, I’d just purchase business class outright.

Your 94,000 American miles are enough for one way in business class. You could fly Cathay via Hong Kong for 70,000 miles (search availability using British or Qantas site). You could also route through London, Doha, Amman.

    Good luck!
