Entering Lounge with Status and Ticket, without taking flight

Entering Lounge with Status and Ticket, without taking flight

  1. Anonymous Guest

    Hi everyone

I am currently FTL with milesandmore and plan to do a mileage run in early 2022 to reach Hon.
My question is, once I have the status, can I, every once in a while, buy a cheap economy ticket with LH or Swiss, spend a few hours in the airport lounge, “miss” my flight, leave the airport when I please and later reclaim the taxes and fees that I’m entitled to be refunded?

I don’t think that anything would happen the first few times, as travel itineraries change with short notice every once in a while. Could I be repremanded, if there was an apparent pattern?

If LH interpreted this bevahiour as an abuse or something it could be used as an easy excuse to terminate a HON’s membership who obtained their status relatively cheap and flies predominantly economy on short-haul flights.

I read through the milesandmore terms and conditions and conditions of carriage of Swiss and Lufthansa and nothing is meantioned there.
Though in the terms and conditions of milesandmore it reads that they can end your member if “an important cause is present” (An important cause is present in particular in the event of a serious, culpable violation by the member of the Terms and conditions of participation or General Conditions of Carriage of Lufthansa, a joint operator, a Miles & More partner company or against any other Miles & More rules agreed for the member).

Does anyone have experience with that sort of thing?

Would be great to hear some other, more knowledgeable opinions.

    Kind regards,
    Dominic Kuhn
