Enrich Miles Extension

    Hello Lucky,

Hope this message finds you well. I came across your blog about how Malaysian Airlines got rid of their 15% thing. As you can tell, I am a complete novice in this airline points and what their actual value is. I would send you chocolates if you could answer two of my questions. I have 9065 miles with Malaysian Airlines that expired few days ago. It seems like I have the option to extend those miles by paying about $25. Is it worth it ? I do not fly frequently but I want to know the $ value of 9065 Malaysian enrich miiles. The second question is how do you use these miles while getting your tickets from a third party vendor. Usually, the deals on third party websites like Cheapoair, STA travels are cheaper than going through the airlines itself.I collect miles by entering my information but never use it. Is there a way to get cash back for these miles when you know that you won’t be traveling or how do I use them most effectively, Thanks

Darsh, most of us are not very familiar with asian FF programs like Enrich so you may want to check a more local forum for more detailed responses. In general, you cannot redeem miles in conjunction with third party travel agent fares. Some airlines offer cash and points options where you can pay part of your tickets with miles but you’d likely have to book through the carrier.

There is also no perfect value of miles unfortunately. You can value them based on acquisition costs, redemption values, types of redemption etc. You may want to consider reading this short series:

Some airlines also have alternate redemption options through a shopping mall. You could take a look and see if Enrich has this option and if your miles can get you something you want that is worth more than $25. Good luck!
