Long question short. Booked Canada to Bali, round trip, premium economy in Apr/19 for travel Feb/Mar/20. Immediately upgraded to buisness with Aeroplan/Star Alliance. July/19 EVA announced equipment change 777 to 787 starting March6/20 for return with no PE cabbin. Was already up’d to business, so no worries. Fast forward March 15/20 corona virus. Informed to return home and transit in Taipei will close on Mar 24, we were booked for 26th. We get our flight changed to 20th but lose our business class upgrade and no PE so end up in economy. We just, got our lost reward miles returned. Thank you for that Aeroplan. Should I be eligible for price difference between PE and economy? I had bought the highest priced PE for the purpose of upgrading. Curious on any opinions. Thanks

I would certainly think so. You were downgraded from what you paid (PE) so the difference in PE vs. regular econ should come back to you, as you state.
