Elevate
I am looking at Virgin America elevate. It just seems too good to be true examples include: PEY from IAD-LHR RT for the same as a domestic Y ticket, RT Business class on EK for the same as Economy to Europe. It all just seems too good to be true. I can deal with rev-based earning. 2 things: how much is a domestic round trip in either class and is there a catch (Minimum spend, high fuel surcharges, etc.).
Well, it’s toughed to rack up points relative to the prices they charge, and fuel surcharges are rough. That EK award you’re looking at would have $1410 in fuel surcharges.
Domestic flights are pegged to the ticket price, so it would depend.
Agreed with @Tiffany. The only decent reward value is the VA flight to Australia, the one that never has any availability unless you want to go tomorrow. The VS flight from either PVG or HKG to London is ok too. There may be a place for Elevate points but it will be when a proposed merger combines the FF accounts and IF you get multiples of Elevate points for AK points. (think SPG)
