Egypt Air agent entered wrong FF code – how to get miles?

Egypt Air agent entered wrong FF code – how to get miles?

    Hi,

Flew two flights in Business J on Egypt Air; LHR – CAI and CAI – BKK. I entered my SQ Krisflyer FF number when I booked the tickets but this went missing for some reason or other (the CS agents told me it was a ‘bug’).

Upon check in, I presented my SQ card. The agent typed in the correct number but entered the code as ‘KS’ so instead of ‘SQ 123 456 7890’ it showed up as ‘KS 123 456 7890’ on their system and on my ticket stub.

The EgyptAir agents at the airport were, in a word, unhelpful – they simply told me they couldn’t change it as it was already entered into the system despite it being their mistake. They told me to call customer service. After about 30 minutes, the guy on the phone simply told me to go back to the check in agents. In the end, the check in supervisor at LHR told me to contact the Egypt Air UK web booking team – the web booking team then told me to submit a miles claim to SQ. SQ hasn’t responded to me yet and I’m getting a little worried (it’s been a little over a month now).

Just wondering if I have any reason to be worried since there was, technically, a frequent flyer number entered or if I will still likely get my miles in the end despite silence on SQ’s end? This hasn’t happened to me before and the amount of miles is not insignificant which is why I’m a little tense about it!

Would appreciate hearing if anyone has experienced something similar!

    Cheers!

I would call SQ as a starting point, I think. They might just tell you to submit the mileage claim online again, but a month is a long time to wait to hear back.

KS is the sign for PenAir in Alaska so your miles should not have been credited there since I am assuming there are no agreements between them and Egypt Air. I think the advice you got (to go through KrisFlyer) was good. I would follow up with SQ.
