Downgraded on AC Metal on a LX ticket, no compensation

Downgraded on AC Metal on a LX ticket, no compensation

    Hi Lucky,

Long time reader of your blog, thanks for the great reads! 🙂

In November last year, I was downgraded on AC GVA-YUL flight from Business to Premium Eco due to an equipment change. (In fact, Air Canada assigned last minute one of their old-SQ planes that has only an old SQ regional biz config, and since they are selling these biz seats as prem eco, it is considered a downgrade – also got premium eco service)

Anyway, my ticket was issued by Swiss. Since then I reached out to both airline asking for compensation for the downgrade. Swiss keeps replying that the downgrade compensation should be covered by the operating airline while Air Canada keeps replying that Swiss has to provide compensation…

Could you help clarifying what is going on and what are my options?

    Thanks a lot!
    Ben

Ben, in this situation, you may be best off looking for legal advice as I’m pretty sure EU 261 would apply
