First of kudos to this website and forum, I only found this blog a month ago while preparing for my trip to China, but it has been invaluable.

I currently have a nice booking to HKG on the 13th, CX first class, hoping to improve the timing of my positioning flight, but otherwise excited to sit in the front of the plane for the first time.

For our flights home, to avoid flying economy I had us leaving PEK in the afternoon on the 24th for HKG, staying overnight and continuing on at 12 the next day to get home at SDF at 2130.

My wife is joining mid trip, and I think realistically the trip needs to be more important than the airfare(Sorry for the blasphemy). She is holding business on JAL to Shanghai, has 2 days there and then we transfer to Beijing(via train) on the 22nd.

I can give up our evening and brief morning in HKG and our First/Biz tickets on Cathay and gain back a day and a half in PEK if we go with AA in economy on the 16:25 to DFW and on to SDF at 11:34.

The routing is much more efficient, but I keep searching and searching for a better option. Can anyone give me hope that I can snag the economy tickets and space in business will open up on the 787 down the line? Maybe a magical hidden flight or new routing that will be announced just in time?
