Delta ticket, Flying KLM, Croatia Air check in

Delta ticket, Flying KLM, Croatia Air check in

  1. Anonymous Guest

This one is a bit convoluted, apologies ahead of time. I purchased two tickets through Delta in economy that were laster upgraded to business using cash. There are two of us flying to Croatia and back, the original flights were on KLM metal SFO-AMS-ZAG. No issues, Delta loyalty populated and credited perfectly.

Tomorrow we return flying ZAG-AMS-JFK. The first leg is on Croatia Air, second leg on KLM. The check-in for both flights and the mobile tickets reflect Croatia Air, and it’s asking for a Star Alliance loyalty number. The Delta number is prepopulated, but with no program associated.

Two questions – will this post to Delta normally? Could we technically get SA miles flying on a Delta ticket?

Probably wont get miles with Delta for the flights on Croatia. You could try and maybe they’ll offer some redeemable miles, since Delta issued the ticket , but I wouldnt push it if they refused.

But, you can probably get SA miles retroactively for that one leg. I once had a domestic flight where 3 of the legs were on Delta but a fourth was on AA and I later got AA miles for that one leg.

If Delta issued the ticket and miles don’t post to your DL account I’d certainly push for them. @David W, any reason why you wouldn’t?

Yes Delta issued the ticket, but Croatia is a Star Alliance airline and they dont have a special partnership with Delta.

That’s why I suggested contacting a SA airline later to get the miles for that one segment. Should get DL miles for all the other legs though.

Personally, if I was interested in status on Delta I would push for manual credit for redeemable and status miles. I think you have a decent argument to make especially since Delta issued the ticket. If you are more interested in Star Alliance miles then you could certainly try for credit add another airline.
