Davos Hotel reservation

Davos Hotel reservation

  1. Anonymous Guest

    Hello guys,
I have a small problem. I got told yesterday by my boss I had to attend the world economic forum (in Davos). While my company would pay the flight from the US to Switzerland in advance, I have to book the stay in Davos. I am have been looking in a number of different websites (including the hotels’ ones) I have been unable to find an available room. I would be staying from the 16th of January until the 21st of January. I have looked in booking.com, trivago, ihg web (I have gold elite status, but still found no availability) and hilton website. Do any of you know how I could potentially solve this problem? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance, Peter

Is there a specific area you need to stay in at Davos? I see some availability but they all seem to be ski resorts.

I’m sure the duration of the summit sees rooms booked up pretty quickly. Have you considered something like AirBnB or a regular bed and breakfast?

    Hello Peter S.

Expect that most of the rooms in Davos itself was booked up a long time ago, probably before the end of last years meeting.

Playing around with booking.com map function this was the closest hotel I could find, 25km away by road. The distances showed in the search is useless since this is distance as the crows fly, sadly they have these things called mountains in Switzerland which means that road distances are much longer.

There are some skiing apartments/resort/chalets closer like David W says

Alternatively look for hotels in the station-towns of the local railway, but many seem to be booked already.

Just chiming in to say that unless you’re an independent contractor (in which case they can’t make you go), your company should really be paying for the hotel.

Do you have elite status anywhere? You may be able to force availability based on that. If your corporate travel department can’t pull any strings, you’ll have to go with the options the others suggested.

    Thanks for all the responses

@David W I would preferably want to stay near the “Kongresszentrum” in the actual city. Otherwise I do not mind and from what I have seen right now, the closest hotel is 9km away, so most likely I will end up taking that one.

@Gaurav I did not consider it, I will take a look at it now and see the options out there, but I would rather stay in a hotel.

@No Name I just checked and found a couple of hotels that are 9km away, so for the moment that is my best option.

@Tiffany I will have to pay the trip in advance, however my company will reimburse all the costs (hotel + others) after the trip so everything is done in one payment.

    Welcome.

Are those 9km away from booking.com? Or from a reliable site like Google maps? Booking.com has the hotel I linked to above listed as under 20km, seems you can add 4-5km to the distance in rugged terrain.

@No Name I just looked at one called “Provisorium13- Hotel Obersee” in Arosa and thought for a second it was just 9km away (as it said in booking), but when putting it on google maps it says it is 90kms away from the Kongresszentrum so my mistake. I have put a list of these hotels into google maps and indeed this is the closest one, so most likely I will book it as soon as possible.

Thank you all for the help.

Oh and @Tiffany I have IHG Gold elite status, however there was no luck at all. I have ended booking the hotel that No Name suggested.
