Great site and info. really appreciate it!

I take the HK-Dallas flight 4 to 8 times a year.. How do you recommend a free upgrade and best fairs?

Do you currently have any status with American and are you booking Economy, Business or First?

Google Flights or similar could help you find great fares.

AA has promotions a few times a year and this could be one of the eligible flights. I would watch out for those and register.

Thanks for the reply David! I’m Priority on AA, but have never been given an upgrade.. I always book economy. I was a avid user of ITA MATRIX, but latley Momondo has been giving me better searches.

What level of priority? That affects upgrade chances. If youre Executive Platinum then you’d be able to use an SWU for the upgrade, if space is available. If not, youre also prioritized higher on the upgrade list and clear earlier than lower level elites, assuming there is space. If youre just Gold, then you dont have SWUs and you’d clear the list if there are any remaining upgrade seats.

In case you didn’t know, that translates to AA gold.
