Crediting miles on codeshare flights

Crediting miles on codeshare flights

I am going to book a partner special on Qatar from Munich to Doha to Dubai on business class. I wonder if I should register for their loyalty program even through I don’t plan any further flights on Qatar so far. More travel to come is from Europe to America so I wonder if I can register for the AA advantage program an credit the miles to them – Munich-Doha is a codeshare with US Airways.

In theory I can credit miles on codeshares but is that also possible when booking the tickets with Qatar directly? Same flight booked on AA costs much more since it’s not the partner special. Any suggestions what I should do?
(currently I am registered to Lufthansa Miles& More but no status and I am Silver on Emirates)

@Samoa — Yep, you can certainly credit to American, that’s not a problem at all.
