Chinese tourist visa for same sex couples

Chinese tourist visa for same sex couples

  1. jjret New Member

Was wondering if anyone has advice on applying for a chinese tourist visa for someone in a same sex marriage. The visa application asks for marrital status and information on family members including a spouse. I don’t want to provide false information, but I am 1) wondering if it will hurt my visa application including this information and therefore 2) wondering if it is worth mentioning in my application given that China doesn’t recognize same sex marriages and in the eyes of chinese law I guess I’m not married?

I recently helped two of my friends, who are a gay married couple, apply for a visa to China. On their applications, I listed them as married to one another and listed one another as their family. Both were approved within the normal time frame and there were no other questions asked.

I filled out all the forms but used a local travel agency to submit the forms. I hate going to the China Embassy in NYC.
