Chase Transfer to United Not Instant?

Chase Transfer to United Not Instant?

I’m currently helping my parents redeem their UR for some award tickets through United. Transferred 85,000 yesterday at 11am, miles posted instantly and I booked a ticket. Two hours later at around 1pm, I transferred another 85,000 to pick up another ticket. UR were deducted from their account, but never posted to United. United says they can only wait until miles post, and there’s no way for them to see if there’s some kind of issue. My father called CSP help line, and the agent said that United can take 1-7 days to transfer, and the status of the second transfer is “in progress”. United has ALWAYS been instant transfers for me, and this has been echoed online ad nauseum, so i’m very confused and frustrated! The only thing i can think of is that transferring the same amount of points only a few hours after the first transfer triggered some kind of fraud alert or was rejected by United as an error. I’ve read that this (occasionally) happens with other programs, where a repeat transfer of the same amount is considered a mistake by the computer.

Is it possible that Chase’s policy with United transfers has changed? I saw there’s a flyertalk thread about this very issue with a few recent posts, so at least i’m not the only person this happened to.

I’m betting it’s what you thought and transferring the same number of points twice in a day has caused something to get flagged.

I just transferred same number of miles to United a few minutes ago and they went through instantly without a hitch. The double transfer is probably what caused the issue.

    Could be…

DP: the points posted on Monday afternoon, so it took 2.5 days or so. I also noticed that the UR site was down for a majority of Sunday, so maybe we got caught up in some kind of glitch?
