Chase Sapphire Rewards for air travel

    Hi,
Wanted to ask if it is better to buy air tickets through Chase Ultimate Rewards or transferring them to the airline account. We are planning travel to Asia this Dec. I am looking to see if I can redeem some points for Business class tickets. Please let me know.
    Thank you,
    Aman

As always, the answer is “it depends”. Are there award seats open around the times you need? If not then you can go through the portal. The value of each UR point will depend on which UR card(s) you have. If you have more than one UR-earning card you can transfer all the points to a single card. With the CSR each point is worth 1.5 cents and with the CSP each point is worth 1.25 cents.

If you’ve earned points via the Freedom or Freedom Unlimited you’ll need to first transfer them to one of the two products above and then you can either transfer to an airline or used them through the portal.
