Changing UA flights

Changing UA flights

  1. Mick Member

hello all! I am currently luckily enough to be in Hawaii with family. I paid for return economy flights from chicago to Honolulu direct. They were very cheap so I assume low fair class.

If I wanted to change these flights to a later day what sort of fees would I face? Is there any way to find a nice agent to avoid this? Are there options on the app to change flights?

Any other tips? Thanks so much

I’m assuming you don’t have any kind of elite status with UA so you will definitely have to pay change fees, regardless of whether you do it through a TA (and if you didn’t book with a TA, chances are they won’t/can’t touch your reservation), online or with UA over the phone. I would expect the fees to be in the range of $200 per ticket. If all the tickets are on the same reservation number there *might* be a price break on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. tickets but I wouldn’t count on it.

You’d have to pay the fare difference as well as a change fee, both of which can’t generally be waived. I’m not sure if you can change flights on the app but if you can, it’ll also prompt you with the fees.
