changing award flight at last minute
I have a F award seat on a 77W from JFK-AUH using OZ miles in 3 weeks. Any chance EY would allow me on an earlier flight out of JFK which is A380 in a F Apartment either in advance or at the airport if I arrive on a separate paid connecting flight early enough? Or would I still have to go through OZ? Of course it seems that such seats rarely if ever appear under Etihad Guest as open on that A380 out of JFK…so I do not know if OZ would even see such a seat at the last minute. Could or would EY allow such a change. LH allowed me to do that several years ago when I had a US F award on a later LH flight the same day. Do you have any thoughts or advice? Thanks.
Since OZ issued your ticket, you’d have to check for award space on the flight you want, and if a seat is available, OZ has to reissue your ticket, based on their rules & fees, when doing it in advance.
In terms of standing by on the earlier EY flight, you can inquire about it when you arrive but I’m not sure if EY would be able to do that on an OZ award ticket.
I think on the day of the flight the operating carrier takes control of the ticket so it may be possible and certainly can’t hurt to ask but I wouldn’t get my hopes up too much.
