changing AA award (AA to JL/CX)

changing AA award (AA to JL/CX)

If i book an AA+OW award (say, MEX-LAX-NRT F on AA plus NRT-CGK on JL), can i later change the transpacific sector free of charge to, say, JL or CX? The structure of the award remains the same (the MEX-LAX will be on AA anyway and there will be an intra-asian segment on JL/CX anyway too). I am asking because there is literally zero CX/JL F availability, but still some availability on AA F. Thanks.

Yeah, I think so. As long as you’re starting the award with a mix of partners you should be able to change the ratio, if that makes any sense.

Good. But AA+JL award (LAX-NRT-CGK) can’t be changed to pure JL award?

So basically in this case it’s safer to attach an intra-US AA segment, or as in my case, MEX-LAX…

    Welcome.

But AA+JL award (LAX-NRT-CGK) can’t be changed to pure JL award?

That is correct, it would change the award from AA+Oneworld to pure Oneworld.

And that would mean repricing after the award chart change coming this month, which I assume is what you are worried about?
