Changi
Was wondering how much time is recommended to spend at Changi? I def want to go early in advance of my flight to Sydney and check out the airport.
I was also wondering can I get to the Qantas F lounge first, have lunch, maybe even put my bag in a locker there and then go check out the airport? Or is it set up that once i am past security and at the lounge then leaving is a huge hassle?
My hope is to go check out the new Qantas F lounge first and have lunch so i am not eating right on top of the BA F flight to SYD. And then after lunch i would like to go spend some time around Changi
I was going to leave my SIN hotel at 130pm and the flight to Sydney is 730pm. Is that way more time than i should be leaving myself to enjoy this amazing airport?
Mike – from the hotel to the airport will be 30 mins tops in a cab. The Qantas F lounge opens at 2:30pm so you may have to wait 10 mins for the lounge to open as check-in and immigration is quick at that time of day.
Security at Changi is at the gate, so you will be able to walk freely around before your flight and can access T1, T2 and T3 – they’re basically the same building -and basically have a near identical layout.
I would recommend going to The Jewel first before immigration – this is a large new mall with the worlds tallest indoor waterfall. Its before immigration so best spend some time here first. Then head back to T1 and through immigration and the lounge for some food. After that you can visit the butterfly garden and any of the other areas of T1, T2 and T3 (walk or train between). Anything in T4 will be off-limits as that.’s a separate building requiring a departure from T4 to access.

Awesome thanks for the great info. I will hit Jewel first and then get to Qantas F for a late lunch. Even if i have lunch at 330 thats still 5 hours before dinner will be served on the flght. I can handle that. Its just if i eat right before the flight no way i can enjoy the dinner on the flight..
I will def check out the Butterfly Garden and walk around after lunch. Hoping to hit BA lounge last as that should put me right by the BA gate and also i heard there is a separate bar just for F with some higher end alcohol..
Btw when you say security is at the gate, anyone can get inside the terminals and even by the gates with out clearing security (metal detectors) ?

No – as you need to pass immigration first, only those with a valid boarding pass can get in – and they do have random bag xray prior to immigration.

You can check in first and get rid of your luggage, then head back out to the Jewel, before going through immigration. BA predominantly operate late evening flights from Changi so may not open the check-in until 3 hours before the first flight of the day (Syd).Flying in F means you’ll be able to checkin from the premium area which is common to a few airlines so will be open. There is also early checkin from the Jewel on level 1.

Awesome thx. I member now reading about checking in at Jewel. I will def do that, assuming BA will be there and taking bags 5 hours before the flight..
