Changes to AAdvantage Award

Changes to AAdvantage Award

  1. Anonymous Guest

I was wondering if there is a time limitation to no-fee changes made to AAdvantage awards, as long as the origin/destination/type of award remain the same? For example, would it still be fee free if the change was made only a week before departure? Thanks!

Tiffany, I believe you would be subject to a $75 close in fee within 21 days of travel.

Thanks, Gustav. But is that true even if I’m not trying to skirt the close-in ticketing fee by moving a flight forward? (I’m thinking more in the scenario of first class availability opening within a day or two of my originally scheduled traveled date.)

Tiffany, that’s the official rule. Sometimes I’ve had agents make changes without charging anything but I don’t know of any documented exceptions unfortunately.
