Canceled SPG card

Canceled SPG card

Well, it was goodbye for the nice purple Amex cards, as my wife and I each canceled them. My wife got an offer for a $25 credit towards the $95 fee, but I got nothing. We decided since we both have the Chase Marriott cards, that paying four separate annual fees wasn’t worth it when only the Chase cards granted anniversary nights. I had been using the SPG card for Marriott stays because of the 6 vs 5 points per dollar it gave when compared to the Marriott card, but over a regular year of 4-6 Marriott stays, I didn’t think that would make a $95 difference.

I’m really hoping when the merger is finalized, that it will be the SPG card that is replaced with a new card with a new sign up bonus that I’ll be able to jump on. I’m holding on to the Chase card as long as I can since I’m way over 5/24. All the Starwood points are safe as Marriott points in my Marriott account, and we’ve already redeemed one nights + flights package, and will probably have enough for another in a year or so, provided the program doesn’t change drastically.

This isn’t really a question, and it is hard to speculate what is going to happen after the program merger
