Can I purchase a short RT ticket while on a long layover with same Airline?

    Hi Lucky,

Just wondering if it’s possible to buy a short round trip ticket while on a long layover for the same airline?! Is this allowed?

I have about 12 hours to hill on a single ticket layover. I might want to book a cheap MR return flight on the same airline to pass the time. Call me crazy… but is it possible?

    Thanks!

    It’s possible – but risky. I don’t think I’d do it.

IT will let you do it as long as flight times don’t overlap. I’ve done it before, but you will not be protected in any way in the case of delays/cancellations. Even travel insurance / credit card travel insurance might not cover it due to overlapping reservations.
