Buying United Miles with 85% bonus miles

Buying United Miles with 85% bonus miles

  1. Anonymous Guest

I just received an email from United with their bonus miles promotion. Is it a good deal or worth buying United Miles with 85% bonus @ 1.89 cents / mile?

    30,000 + 25,500 = 55,500 miles for $1,050 (min.)

    94,000 + 79,900 = 173,900 miles for $3,290 (max)

  2. OCTinPHL Diamond

Both Lucky and TPG value United miles at 1.4 cents. It is probably not worth it unless you have a specific award ticket for which you need the miles.

[Edit – I didn’t do any math myself – you are saying that the miles come out to 1.89 cents after factoring in the bonus, right?]
