Booking Etihad on AA

To get from Hong Kong to JFK, do you have to use two different awards on AA? or could you do it all on one? Thanks!

Assuming you’re routing via the Middle East, it would be 2 AA awards.

On CX/JL/AA, HKG- JFK is one reward. Can’t go across the Atlantic to Asia with AA. The only route you can take Etihad on from North America is to Middle East and India. Europe and Africa require 2 tickets.

I booked this same route for next March. As others have said, it’s 2 awards: Asia to Middle East and then Middle East to North America. If it’s helpful, the latter obviously includes onward domestic connections from JFK.

Though if youre going to book 2 AA awards for Asia to the US on Etihad, I’d recommend Cathay HKG-SIN and EY SIN-AUH-JFK, because EY has a better product for SIN-AUH than HKG-AUH
