Best way from LAX to DXB on miles
Ben, have a lot of Chase UR points, need a one way in C of F next month from LAX to Dubai….what are my best options? Buying miles not out of question….have about 40K AA miles and plenty of Chase.
Thanks August

Have you considered transferring points to Etihad Guest and booking EY LAX-AUH? Business class is 108k plus $130 and First is 144k plus $180. You’d also be eligible for chauffeur service on both ends with them being able to take you all the way to Dubai after landing.
AAdvantage will charge 70k/115k for travel on Etihad with minimal taxes but you’d be ineligible for EY chauffeur service so you’d have to get to Dubai on your own. I used Uber to get from Dubai to Abu Dhabi and was $100. There’s a sale on purchased AAdvantage miles at the moment. On the plus side with using AAdvantage miles, you may be able to book LAX-JFK-AUH if there is award space so that you can fly on one of American’s 3 cabin transcons and Etihad’s A380.
Another option would be buying Alaska 150k miles for Emirates LAX-DXB, or 70k miles for CX LAX-HKG-DXB in First, if there is space. Note that AS can only access a smaller subset of CX award space.
