Best time to get SQ Saver availability

Best time to get SQ Saver availability

  1. Mark16 New Member

    Hi All,

Is there any conventional wisdom on the best timing for SQ Suites availability? I have some points parked in SQ that I need to use in the next ~2 years with the timing fairly flexible, and I would love to use them on Suites from JFK-FRA-SIN and possibly beyond. I was playing around with searches for 8-9 months from now, and even next December/Jan and did not have any luck finding availability.

I know with Cathay and JAL for instance in the past I’ve had better luck waiting until week of flights, so I’m wondering if there is any similar rule of thumb timing with SQ. Any insight would be helpful

    Thanks!

hi @Mark16, unfortunately not. You just have to keep looking. There are some suggestions out there about booking wait list awards and then sending follow up requests for clearance through the call center but nothing guaranteed to work. Just got off a suites flight so I will say that the wait was worth it!

I had a ton of flights waitlisted to Australia just before Christmas. I spoke to them about sending chaser emails and eventually they all cleared. Enjoy my suites flight from Singapore to Sydney!!!!!

Well that’s a bummer. Thanks both for the thoughts.

To your knowledge is there any benefit to getting on a waitlist well in advance? It would be great to use these around next Christmas, and ideally I would get my SO and I together in Suites, so is it in my interest to request if waitlist exists? Or is this again a bit of a black box?

I’d definitely waitlist if you already have the miles in your SQ account. Cant hurt. Also, you can waitlist for multiple flights while only having enough miles for one ticket. Waitlist wherever you can and call to get chasers on your waitlist. Probably the best way to do it if you really want to travel around Christmas since it’s so busy.

I agree. Waitlist anything you can including perhaps San Fran to Singapore and see what happens. I cleared suites for December 23 in the middle of November. Flyertalk has an extensive forum discussing people’s experience waitlisting. Also I booked an individual leg and finally found an agent who could tack on the second leg to my first booking. Took lots of tries

Good to know, thanks for the help all! I guess my dilemma now is whether or not to transfer the points required to get both SO and I requested (I only have enough KrisFlyer miles banked for one). Regardless I’ll make the waitlist request for one.

I have found that there is better availability on a Wednesday than the rest of the week. however that may be entirely coincidental.
