’best’ program for upgrades?

’best’ program for upgrades?

  1. Anonymous Guest

What is the ‘best’ program to use primarily for flight upgrades? I am a DFW resident who has exhausted my AA miles, so now would be a good time to start afresh. I travel international (mostly Europe) , 1 x year. I am open to carriers -not using DFW -as a focus or hub. My experience has been with DL and AA. I have never been in one of the Bank issued card programs- are they ‘better’ for upgrades then a carrier issued card? Thank you all for your considertion.

Hi DFWguy. There really is no card that will guarantee you upgrades, especially on international flights. You’ll either have to purchase the cabin you want to fly in with cash or miles or book a lower cabin and try to upgrade, usually with miles. I’d suggest taking a close look at some of the transferable points currencies and matching them up to the carrier you’re interested in to see what would be a good fit for you. There is a good beginner section at the top of this page where you can get started..
