BA award surcharges from London

BA award surcharges from London

  1. Anonymous Guest

    Hi Everyone,

Any strategies for minimizing award fuel surcharges from London to the Washington area (fuel dump cities, etc)? I need four one-way business tickets for my family next June. There are plenty of Star Alliance and One World seats that work for our schedule, but UA is pricing at about $1150 for 4 tix, and BA of course wants closer to $1300, just in surcharges. We could go through Dublin and Boston with BA miles on Aer Lingus, but an overnight would be necessary in one of the cities, in addition to a terminal change in Boston, and once I add the positioning flight from Boston it might not be worth the hassle.

    Thanks in advance!

Well, the UK APD is ~$200 on any ticket that leaves the UK headed toward the US. I’d recommend Dublin to Boston but you’ve already considered that. I’m not sure theres any better solution since departing from another city would mean you need to spend money to get there.

I’d probably go with UA since they dont really pass on many other charges whereas BA would.
