award on KLM or Delta
I plan to fly from LAX to Kilimanjaro on or about August 27 or 28, 2020, and return from Kigali to LAX on September 9, 2020. KLM flies this route, so I’ll probably fly KLM (although I’m not a fan of KLM’s business class).
I plan to accumulate miles on Delta and/or transfer my AMEX points to either KLM or its partner Delta to redeem points for a frequent flyer business class award. On which airline – KLM or Delta (or some other affiliated airline – do you suggest I accumulate points/transfer points to? Which airline requires the fewest number of points for a business class award and which airlines has the most available award seats?
Thanks as always for your insight.
Mark
For awards, Delta’s SkyMiles program requires less miles than AF/KLM FlyingBlue. The issue is being able to find saver level award space on Delta and KLM, which can be difficult. Kenya Airways is an option though Delta seems to have a hard time ticketing KQ flights.
You may want to pick up cards that offer transferable rewards, particularly ones that can be transferred to a StarAlliance carrier (Lifemiles,United,Aeroplan) since they have several airlines offering service to KGL & JRO
