Availability & Routing Help – MLE-SIN-DAD-SFO

Availability & Routing Help – MLE-SIN-DAD-SFO

  1. Anonymous Guest

So planning a trip to MLE, SIN and DAD in June 2019.

SFO – JFK – AUH – MLE on F using AA miles. Hopefully EY will open up.

MLE – SIN (stopover) – DAD on J using SQ miles.

DAD – HKG – SFO on CX F using AA miles.
The problem lies on the DAD-HKG leg, there’s practically no availability (atleast right now for 2019, I checked all Fridays, Saturday for 2019, 0 space). So I’m thinking just book 1 J & 1 F from HKG-SFO on CX first and figure out the DAD-HKG leg later.

    or

So starting from MLE on Saturday, we can do either SIN or DAD first. I’m thinking

MLE – SIN – DAD on J using SQ miles

DAD – SIN (stopover) – HKG – SFO on F using SQ miles (valid route? 118K miles? I’m not too sure about SQ miles & rules).
or somehow to SIN – HND – SFO on JL F ?

I’ve only been on CX F. So JL or SQ will be great. I have about 500K AA, 500K UR, 125K MR, 70K TYP.
I’m pulling my hair at this point. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

So if I’m understanding correctly, the only segment with no availability is Da Nang to Hong Kong? If that leg is the only one not available, why not just purchase a cash ticket? That’s a sub 2 hour flight on a narrow body plane. Assuming you aren’t stopping over in Hong Kong, you could even fly economy and still get lounge access due to OneWorld access rules.

Long story short, I’d definitely want to lock in the 15 hour flight up front and worry about the 1.5 hour flight later, even if it meant paying cash.

To the best of my knowledge, that routing theoretically is possible with Singapore – they allow up to 6 segments per award.

Yeah, that DAD-HKG leg has extreme low availability and I want to grab the 1 CX F as soon as it’s available. My SO wants to go Hoi An *sigh*. I guess that’s my plan for now, ignore that leg. I can probably use BA miles too if cash ticket is high.
I know I can use the lounge in HKG through CX J or F, but not in DAD right? (assuming I’ll be buying economy ticket). But let say I book CX through BA, maybe they will let me use the lounge and check my bags through? Thanks.

Nope, lounge access for OneWorld is based on class of service on the long-haul sector. As long as you would be leaving Hong Kong same day, you would have access in Da Nang. Although, not sure what the lounge situation is like there!
