Asia-EU, Gotta Decide

Asia-EU, Gotta Decide

Award Redemption Choices from Asia to Europe are:
    – TG F or J on a A380 or 777-300
    – CX J on a 777-300
    – QR F both segments A380 – or J on a A330 and then 787

Redemption costs: LifeMiles on TG 102k for F, 78k for J
    AA miles (pre-devalue) on QR/CX 70k for F, 52k for J

Any tips appreciated as the clock to AA devaluation is ticking. Heard TG food not the best, ditto CX. Also, am leery on QR 330 having angle flat J seats and the in-airport transit in Doha as never been there. Have never flown any of the three airlines long-haul, actually QR never.

The greatest determining criteria I set in deciding is based on hard and soft product quality and departure/arrival times.. Mileage redemption cost . For example: 102k LifeMiles cost 1.5 cents or $1,530 will get me TG F. 52k AA miles were about 2.1 cents or $1,100 and will get me a QR OR CX J seat. The 52k J AA redemption rises to 75k, and the 70k F hikes to 90k on March 22.

There’s been no SN, LX, LH, or CX F availability from Asia to EU. BA is available in J and a few F offerings, but fuel surcharge is a huge turn off, and using BA miles is more costly overall. OZ F is available but on a route flying their ancient 747.

    Hello Phillip N

Going with QR F on the A380 is probably the best option. Great lounges in DOH, bar on board and probably the best seat of of product you have listed.

After that I would say either TG in F or CX in J , with probably TG having the upper hand since you are going Asia to EU and can use the F lounge in BKK.

TG’s J product vary a lot depending on the plane.
TG J on the A380 is good

But TG J on the B773 is not.

TG J on the B77W is good

The QR A330 is dead last in my opinion when combined with a plane change over a direct flight. Even if the QR J lounge in DOH is good.
