Any suggestions on maximizing getting points for a cruise?

Any suggestions on maximizing getting points for a cruise?

I want to take Mom and my 5 brothers and sisters on a cruise for mom’s 75th birthday. A 2-3 day cruise would be good since it will be our first time. Inexpensive cruises from the Long Beach, Ca port is what I have been looking at. Can anyone suggest a good site to get an inexpensive cruise? I see Expedia will give you Expedia points if you book with them. Delta Skymiles and AAdvantage have cruises also and you can get points for these trips. Both have the same prices that I noticed. Some have a good deal with gaining points if you book with them. Please let me know if someone has a good suggestion.

@CJK I’m not a cruise expert (I think there are sites out there where you will get better advice) but the one time I went on a cruise we got a really good deal by going to a travel expo after doing our research. In MA there are a couple every year, one organized by AAA and another by the Boston Globe. Knowing the itinerary and ship we wanted we could really get a great price directly from Carnival.
