AmEx Rewards to United?

AmEx Rewards to United?

  1. Anonymous Guest

Is there a way to use AmEx rewards points on United? United is not a partner, but I was hoping that perhaps I could transfer the AmEx points to one of United Alliance partners, and then over to United.

    Help?

Nope, buy you can use Aeroplan or KrisFlyer miles on United flights, if that helps.

Theoretically you could via SPG but not a good value unless your need is great. 1000MR convert to 333SPG which transfers to UA at 2:1 so you get 167MP miles (5000 mile bonus if you transfer 20,000 miles). You could also convert SPG to Marriott Rewards at 1:3 and then transfer to MP based on this chart: http://www.marriott.com/rewards/usepoints/morerew.mi.

I dont believe Aeroplan imposes heavy surcharges on United redemptions so I would go that route. AMEX to Aeroplan transfers instantly so use their online tool to confirm space before transferring and booking. However, if you run into issues, just be prepared for Aeroplan’s ridiculous phone hold times.
