Amex MR to AeroMexico – 1.6 Transfer Ratio?

Amex MR to AeroMexico – 1.6 Transfer Ratio?

  1. bostontraveler New Member

    Hi –

I was just on the Membership Rewards site and noticed that you can transfer MR points to AeroMexico at a 1:1.6 ratio. I thought the transfer ratio had always been 1:1 and I don’t see any indication that this is an offer (like the little tag on British Airways).

So I really have two questions: (1) Am I just crazy and this has always been the ratio OR is this a change and one that is permanent? and (2) Are there any decent redemptions with AeroMexico miles?

    Thanks!

I think that’s the standard. This post discusses it a little (http://pointsmilesandmartinis.boardingarea.com/2015/03/20-transfer-bonus-to-aeromexico-with-amex-last-chance/). You transfer initially into miles which turn into kilometers at standard math rates as the unit of AeroMexico’s program.

Got it, I actually stumbled across this weird miles to kilometers thing right before you replied! It seems like they used to have a 1:1 transfer ratio displayed but then it converted into 1.6 km after the transfer. Now they just transfer at a ratio of 1.6 into “points” (I think AeroMexico has eliminated using miles and kms).
