I tried to follow your advice and buy Amazon Gift Card using United app to see if I got credit. From your post it looks like you got the credit at same time as the charge. I did not get the credit.

Suggestions? We almost never fly domestic so don’t have baggage fees. I like concierge service so I guess it’s worth it to get Hamilton tickets and reservations at Eleven madison Park but I’d like to use all the benefits if possible.

I think that’s one of the instances where YMMV.

Im not sure if buying a gift card from United will qualify. You can test it with a $50 purchase or maybe search on flyertalk?

Ira–the credit does not happen instantly (usually takes a few days). Did you just make the purchase?

Mine took at least 2-3 days for the credits to post.
