Alitalia reaction to EF from FLR/DUS

Alitalia reaction to EF from FLR/DUS

    Hej Ben,

I was justwondering whether you had received any information on the rationale Alitalia might have with how they are dealing their latest EF (flights starting FLR to DUS or viceversa).
They decided not to honor tickets but instead of cancelling tickets right away (which as you may know at least for travls originating in DUS wouldn’t have sufficient legal basis, they would need to revoke each contract and give reasons that the other party may or may not accept and challenge on the legal way).
Yet, instead of doing this, they rebook tickets to oneway flights on other dates, not voiding legs of other carriers and creating a huge mess. Besides, they claim the OTAs through which it was bookable had the fare displayed as “error” which was not the case. In my case I was even shout at by two agents on the phone. They deny refund and tell customers to call the OTA which can’t process the tickets becaus AZ took them under airline control.
I have seen, booked and flown many different fares but this is the first time, I see an airline behaving so headlessly and creating more fuzz with the actions taken afterwards than with the fare itself.
Do you have any insights or a contact at AZ?

    Best

    Chris
