We’re flying business AA (on miles) to Europe in 2017. Can you tell me the difference between LHR and CDG in landing fees? Everyone says LHR is so high. So I hope you can tell me the difference. Thanks and keep up the good work. I’m really learning a lot from the different questions and comments.

I dont think landing fees between LHR and CDG are that huge a difference. It’s departing LHR in a premium cabin that kicks in the UK APD, which can make it a significant difference.

Thank you very much. I knew there were large fees involved, but I didn’t realize that they were leaving LHR, not so much arriving. Now we’ll see how hard it will be getting a flight going there using miles.

Have you looked into the business class fare sales that pop up from time to time? They’re pretty good deals, especially factoring in the AARP and Chase BA Visa discounts.

AA awards for business class on their own planes aren’t the easiest to get and if you were to book business class for travel on BA the fuel surcharges are pretty high, which defeats the purpose of an award.

So, my best way to go using miles is AA ( not BA) to LHR or a flight to CDG. Is that the best as you see it?

Yep, just avoid British Airways planes to avoid those high fees. You may want to consider a connection in Madrid, Germany, etc. Check flights to Manchester too 🙂
