Aircraft Swap Inquiry

Aircraft Swap Inquiry

    Good Afternoon,

I wanted some help with my case with Qatar Airways. I booked a flight to India back in November with the itinerary consisting of the A350-1000 from JFK-DOH and back, and B77W for DOH-BLR and back. I paid to go on QR because I’ve heard great things on the news about the A350-1000, and QR’s news press release said they were going to make JFK their first all-A350 destination for a while. Yesterday, news popped up that QR701/702 would be swapped back to a B77W. I called QR up today and they confirmed this, however they said nothing could be done about it. I was eager to try out their superior A350 product, and I paid extra to fly with them just for that reason, however it seems I will be stuck with the B777 4 times in a row.

What are my options and what are your thoughts on this?

    Thanks in advance

Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident but rather somewhat common for Qatar (and other airlines) to switch their aircraft from their best cabin to their oldest. I’ve had it happen to me with Qatar and didn’t get anywhere with customer service. At the time, I didn’t request a refund because I had few options due to the proximity of my flights. I have, however, requested and received refunds from AA on equipment swaps. Perhaps others here can chime in if they’ve successfully received refunds from Qatar in such cases.

AA is the only airline that I know of that includes an equipment change as a valid reason for a cancelation or change in your itinerary. Unfortunately you won’t have much recourse with QR. Who knows, they might change it back 🙂

Are there other flights on that day that are still operated by the 350 or another gateway that you could route through? Requesting a change in routing might be a more palatable resolution than a cancelation. Of course there is no guarantee that the new itinerary will hold the assigned equipment

My future doesn’t look to bright.

And the morning flight is operated by the A350-1000. However, I’ve called them twice already and no one wants to press a key or do anything about.
