Air France Still Closing Accounts that Transfer in Miles?

Air France Still Closing Accounts that Transfer in Miles?

  1. Anonymous Guest

    Hello all,

I haven’t been able to find much about this elsewhere, but I am interested in using Air France to book two one-way award tickets, but I am concerned because of the possibility of an account that is only used with points transferred in being closed with points confiscated:

Any tips about how to possibly prevent this from happening? I am planning to open a Flying Blue account a few months before I transfer points in.

    Thanks all!

I had never heard of this, but I will be an unwitting data point for you. Opened a flying blue account in April, transferred in UR points and booked 2 o/w award flights about 2 weeks later for July. I booked over a month ago and no issues yet.

One caveat though is I purchased 2 o/w revenue flights within France for the following week after my award flight (AF just happened to be the cheapest option). Didn’t book that until last week though.

If you are transferring miles from your Amex account to your FlyingBlue account for travel for yourself/companions, then you shouldn’t have any problems. I’d book over the phone to be safe (and you can hold the space before moving points around).
