Advice for Points Usage in Asia

Advice for Points Usage in Asia

Hoping people could provide some suggestions for best use of points and miles for beach stays in Asia (or Maldives/Mauritius/Oceania). I have about 450kUR points, 400k UA miles, 75k SPG, and around 5-7k Marriott points. I’m looking to fly RT from Tokyo to any beach destination in Asia, mostly been looking in SE. I’d like to use at least two of the SPG ‘5th night free’ promotions, but have very little experience with hotel points. One of the most interesting possibilities was the Le Meridien Tahiti, but seems like their bungalows are closed the rest of the year.

I’d only look to book a business award flight if any legs were over 10 hours, and am not looking to spend a majoring of my UR/UA points, but have no problems spending most of the SPG/Marriott points for a two week stay. I’ve been reading about the different nights and flights packages, but given the airline miles I have access to, I wonder if it’s best to just use hotel points for hotel stays.

Again, any suggestions or examples of how you’ve used points for a great beach-front stay would be greatly appreciated.

For SPG hotels on the beach, I really liked the Andaman in Langkawi. The property is old, but rooms have been updated fairly recently, and the location is just gorgeous. Definitely a more nature-focused place though.
