About the fare code

About the fare code

Hello! I am trying to book Cathay Pacific’s premium economy on American Airlines website when I see that the fare code is W as indicated by American’s website. Does that fare code W the same as Cathay Pacific’s? (I am interested in knowing this because Cathay only allows passages who book premium economy in face code W and R to upgrade to business and booking W on cathay’s website is more expensive (400 dollars) than on American’s website.) Thank you!

I seem to remember something about not being able to book premium economy on other airlines via the AA website but don’t remember if that was only for award travel. Maybe @Tiffany or others can help out here.

Thanks for helping out! I am not booking an award flight. Just trying to book a fare class of premium economy which will be eligible for upgrade.

Hi @Carl and welcome! If you’re looking to upgrade using AsiaMiles, your ticket will need to be issued by Cathay Pacific. They won’t be able to upgrade the ticket, regardless of fare class, if it’s issued on American’s ticket stock.
