AA Status Challenge worth it?

AA Status Challenge worth it?

Strongly considering doing either Gold or Platinum status challenge. I know I’m traveling about 8,000 miles in the next two months, but am not sure I could do 12,500 for platinum. I also have an outside shot of hitting 25k on the year. I also have the Citi AAdvantage Executive card. Still worth it for gold or possibly Platinum?

Really depends on how much you’ll be traveling the rest of the year. As I remember correctly AA doesn’t give you the benefits of the status until you complete the challenge so you’ll need to figure out if the upfront payment is worth the annual benefits. If you haven’t see it, Ben has more details here: http://onemileatatime.boardingarea.com/2016/01/05/how-to-do-an-american-aadvantage-status-challenge/
