AA schedule change – can I ask for airport change?

AA schedule change – can I ask for airport change?

We’re flying (AA/Etihad) MIA – JFK – AUH in an apartment in November, with the MIA-JFK segment on Friday night, with JFK-AUH departure the following day on Saturday. Our original flight had a ~7pm arrival into JFK if I recall correctly (can’t find the original itinerary). They’ve changed the schedule and now MIA departure is not until 9:30PM with an after midnight arrival into JFK. Obviously, there’s no issue with actually making our connection the next day to AUH – but, a 1am arrival is um, less than ideal.
The only earlier option into JFK leaves too early for us. There are a boatload of better options into LGA – is it reasonable to ask for one of those flights (making it MIA-LGA, JFK-AUH)? Thanks

It certainly can’t hurt to ask – all they can do is say “no”. But I would think that shouldn’t be an issue since LGA/JFK/EWR are all NYC-area airports. Especially since you have an overnight between flights and there’s plenty of time to change airports.

Yes, I’ve done a ton of those between IAD/DCA and JFK/LGA. Shouldn’t be an issue.
